Dedicated vs. Shared IPs

The IP address you send from has its own reputation, separate from your domain reputation. Understanding the difference between shared and dedicated IPs is crucial.

Shared IPs (Google Workspace, Microsoft 365)

When you use standard G Suite or Office 365, you are sending from a pool of shared IP addresses. Your reputation is mixed with thousands of other businesses.

Pros: The IPs are already "warm" and trusted by receiving servers.

Cons: A bad actor on the same IP can temporarily impact your deliverability.

Dedicated IPs (SendGrid, Mailgun)

You lease a specific IP address that only you use. You are 100% responsible for its reputation.

Pros: Complete control over your sender reputation.

Cons: Requires strict warming up. If you don't send enough volume (consistently >50k emails/month), the IP goes "cold" and your deliverability tanks.

The Dedicated IP Mistake

Do not buy a dedicated IP for standard B2B cold email (sending < 1,000 emails a day). You will not have enough volume to keep it warm, and you will end up in spam. Stick to Google Workspace or Microsoft 365 for low-volume outreach.
