Technical terms used throughout our documentation.
- Bounce Rate
- The percentage of emails that could not be delivered. A Hard Bounce means the address doesn't exist. Keep this under 2%.
- DKIM (DomainKeys Identified Mail)
- A cryptographic signature added to your emails to prove they weren't tampered with. Learn how to set it up.
- DMARC (Domain-based Message Authentication)
- A policy that tells receiving servers what to do if SPF or DKIM fails.
- ESP (Email Service Provider)
- The infrastructure sending your emails (e.g., Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, SendGrid).
- SPF (Sender Policy Framework)
- A DNS record listing the IPs authorized to send on behalf of your domain. Use our SPF Generator.
- Spam Trap
- An email address used by blocklists to catch spammers. Hitting one will severely damage your reputation.
